The Design Thinking team is back at the Farm, the training facility, and geared up to swap out current meeting methods with some creative ideas that produce better results.

What is going on in our user’s minds?

I attend meetings, and can’t get rid of  all this negativity.  We try different methods that are exciting at first, but the dysfunctional results keep coming back.  Not feeling well from a loss of inspiration as a side affect.  Meeting facilitators often have a distorted idea that I can become an expert at a process without practice.

Regular and positive interactions promotes a positive and trusting relationship.

It helps when 2 people walk into a room with a past history of meetings that both would classify as a win!  When the Asset feels they guided the meeting to a solution, it is a win for both.

Grouping Knowledge

So let’s get on with our task by grouping common items from the Step#1 Empathize post, and evaluate the patterns from our knowledge base.  Post-it notes are a very easy way to work thoughts out, move, reorder, or even rewrite because each is created in seconds.  This step of the mission is about broad ideas that will be pursued with more detail in Step #4, Prototype.

Ideas for Solution Presentation

Now is the time to get creative!  Remember the mission framework, our focused grouping, and what ideas come to mind?  How are we going to get our mission results into the hands of the Asset and Handler?

  1. Method Cards
  2. Role Playing Tool or Script
  3. Process Article
  4. Posters
  5. Flaps and Seals in a Notebook
  6. Small Signs Posted in the Meeting Room at Door, Walls, Whiteboard or Tabletop
  7. Top-Secret Meeting Dossiers
  8. Passport

Focus Grouping Ideas

Bug Sweeping: Cell phones, computers.

Safe House: This is a place where the Asset should feel safe, and not threatened.

Briefed: Efficiently give the rundown on the situation.

Hard Man: An experienced agent.

Dry Cleaning: Engage the folks that are just following, and nodding their heads.  Engage in something to get them engaged and active.  Get up to the board.  Post-its.

Teaching Moment Grouping Ideas

Friend: An Asset that provides intelligence back to a Handler.  This will be used to assess the readiness or level of training of the Asset.

The Take: Intelligence acquired by an agent.

Dirty Tricks: Operations used to confuse or destroy Assets.  If attempting to grow the Asset into a Handler role, the Asset will need to lead the meeting.  Taking over the meeting lead will confuse the goal.

Hard Man: An experienced agent.
